Depression
When life feels heavy, draining, or disconnected.
Signs of Depression
Depression can affect people in many different ways. It’s not always about feeling sad — it can show up emotionally, physically, and in how you relate to yourself and others.
You might notice experiences such as:
feeling low, tearful, or emotionally flat
a sense of emptiness or disconnection
persistent self-criticism or feelings of worthlessness
low confidence or a loss of self-esteem
withdrawing from others or feeling isolated
difficulty finding pleasure in things that once mattered
irritability, frustration, or feeling easily overwhelmed
Depression can also be felt in the body and in daily life, for example:
constant fatigue or low energy
changes in sleep or appetite
difficulty concentrating or making decisions
reduced motivation or feeling slowed down
unexplained aches, pains, or physical discomfort
For some people, depression can bring feelings of hopelessness or a sense of being stuck. These experiences can feel frightening and lonely, but they are more common than many people realise.
