Depression

When life feels heavy, draining, or disconnected.

Signs of Depression

Depression can affect people in many different ways. It’s not always about feeling sad — it can show up emotionally, physically, and in how you relate to yourself and others.

You might notice experiences such as:

  • feeling low, tearful, or emotionally flat

  • a sense of emptiness or disconnection

  • persistent self-criticism or feelings of worthlessness

  • low confidence or a loss of self-esteem

  • withdrawing from others or feeling isolated

  • difficulty finding pleasure in things that once mattered

  • irritability, frustration, or feeling easily overwhelmed

Depression can also be felt in the body and in daily life, for example:

  • constant fatigue or low energy

  • changes in sleep or appetite

  • difficulty concentrating or making decisions

  • reduced motivation or feeling slowed down

  • unexplained aches, pains, or physical discomfort

For some people, depression can bring feelings of hopelessness or a sense of being stuck. These experiences can feel frightening and lonely, but they are more common than many people realise.
